Large Animal Capture, Restraint & Transport:

sparky the bullThis course is a useful resource especially if you are training new staff, or prior to working in a field research or captive animal environment where hand restraint and capture techniques are required.

The Yuba College Veterinary Technology Program aims to develop "Best Practice Animal Management" principles in animal and human safety. In addition animal ethics and safety issues, zoonosis, capture restraint, husbandry, and veterinary procedures are covered.

The Yuba College Capture Handling & Restraint Program covers basic large animal anatomy and stress physiology, fundamentals of animal husbandry, captive health issues/requirements, feeds and feeding, behavior, and livestock/wild hoof stock handling are taught.

Methods used to immobilize or sedate animals for medical or safety reasons including drug doses and mixtures are also discussed.

This course is intended to train and educate individuals to safely and correctly use mechanical and/or chemical capture means to subdue and restrain domestic livestock, wild domestic (feral) animals, wildlife or nuisance animals.
