SNOWBALL'S CHANCE

Design crew:

James Mock - Chief Engineer

Daniel Simeroth - Resource Manager

Kaylee de los Reyes - Project Manager

Shannon Alves - Great Coffee Maker

Vehicle Statistics:

Longest distance - 13 ft

Fastest run in 2.5 meters - 1.91 s

Cost Breakdown:

Front wheels - $1.00 coasters from a yardsale

Front axle - Free gift from Yuba College machine shop (maybe $5.00 at the store.)

5 minute epoxy - $4.50 at most hardware stores

Front wheels - $2.00 Tonka Toy from Toys 'R' Us

Mousetraps - $4.25 for 2 at the convenience store

Everything else came from my house

Possible Improvements to the vehicle:

Instead of using tape on the axles I should have used an epoxied spacer. The tape adhesive interfered with the wheel spinning.

I should have made a more varied gear ratio. A bigger gear for the speed competition could have cut some time off.

Possible Improvements to the rules:

The distance should have been measured in a straight line from the starting point. The turning of the vehicle shouldn't have been added to the total distance.

An increase in the 2 inch rule to 3 inches would have made the distance race a little more interesting.
