Our car carried a maximum of 15 mice.
We could have remade the car with bearing or something to reduce friction and the holes of the axles weren't aligned correctly. This caused a lot of uneeded friction. We also had one wheel which did was not on straight. We could have fixed that, had we had more time before the contest. These changes along with the arleady light weight vehicle, we could have done a lot better.
The prices of the parts for our car were as follows:
-Balsa wood=$4.00
-2 mousetraps=$0.75
-axles from toy truck=$5.00
-CD wheels=$0.00
This wasn't really much of a challenge or a contest at all. I don't believe this contest should be repeated, even with changes made to the rules. The only thing that needs to be done is to make a car with low friction and get it moving. WIth the momentum and the low friction, it should reach the finish line with out a problem. I suggest to try a new project.
