II. Inertia
A. Definition
- An object at rest tends to stay at rest, an object in motion
tends to stay in motion (in a straight line at a constant speed),
unless acted on by anoutside force.
- resistence to change
- related to an object’s mass
B. Measurement
- mass (measurement of inertia)
- speed (magnitude)
- velocity (vector)
- net force
- Newtons
- force diagrams
- arrow’s length related to magnitude
- arrow points in direction of movement
- parallelogram show net force
- equilibrium (net force = zero)
- at rest - static
- moving objects - dynamic(constant velocity)
