The Drafting Technology program at
Yuba College is designed to prepare students for employment as
Architectural Drafters or in related A.E.C. occupational fields.
The curriculum emphasis is on professional architectural practices
and design. In the design studio students develop considerable
skills in identifying and solving design and structural problems.
They apply architectural drawing techniques and practices to architectural
working drawings, architectural details and
presentation drawings.
The Department of Drafting Technology, in addition to the architectural
program, offers both beginning and advanced courses in CAD. See
the course descriptions for detailed information.
An A.S. Degree, Certificate of Completion or Training can be
earned by completing a selected sequence of courses in the Department
of Drafting Technology. Requirements for an A.S. Degree or certificates
are defined in the Yuba College General Catalog. The length of
time required to earn an A.S. Degree or certificate varies depending
on the individuals educational background upon entering Yuba
College. Generally, earning an A.S. Degree, Certificate of Completion
or Certificate of Training will require 5, 4 or 2 semesters respectively.
The curriculum structure will also suit those students having
aspirations of transferring to a School of Architecture.
