The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for 2009 jointly to Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, UK, Thomas A. Steitz, USA, and Ada E. Yonath, Israel, for studies of the structure and function of the ribosome.
